So I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to lighting..

I've been experimenting with different lighting techniques, hoping to get the kind of contrast I've been looking for and thus far have had no such look.

When I render out using the default scanline render, with only the light closest to the door on (introduction to the scene before Batman is revealed) it looks about right, however with all the lights on using the default scanline its not bright enough in the room. However, when I render out using the mental ray render, with all the lights on, it looks how I would like it to look. The only down side to this is, when only the door light is on, the rest of the room is then too bright.

I'm going to keep working on it, and reading up on more tutorials, but if anyone has any input in the meantime it would be appreciated!

Some render shots below!

Default Scanline Render - Only door light on.

MentalRay Render - All lights on.
